How Te Hou Ora can help you during COVID-19 lockdown

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He Tangata! He Tangata! He Tangata!

What is the most important thing in the world?
The people! The people! The People!

COVID 19 world pandemic is a very unique and challenging time we are facing.

We are aware that some whānau have less resources / means than others available to them. It is Te Hou Ora’s humble privilege to be able to manaaki Whānau where possible at this time.

Te Hou Ora has been able to respond to referrals from the community and provide some very basic supports like our care package.

It comprises a combination of food and personal care items and some tamariki activities.

The food package provides enough for three basic whānau meals that you can cook yourself, snacks, karakia and some recipes that might be helpful if you don’t have your own. This package is subject to a bit of change as it is dependant on what we are able to source.

The personal care items and tamariki activities change based on ages and volume provided to us of whānau and again our ability to source some products.

Some of the feedback we have received has included:

It was so good for our whānau to have a bit of normalcy – to sit down together and share a normal kai. We made Spaghetti Bolognaise.”

I put the karakia up. We say it every morning for breakfast and at night.”

I liked the recipes. We made pikelets and it was so easy and the kids loved it!”

I’m so grateful for the DCC bags. I really needed to get the rubbish out.”

Such a relief – I didn’t have to try and find someone to get my shopping. Those activities were so great and age appropriate. The kids were able to take them to their rooms and have some busy alone time.”

He waka eke noa

A canoe which we are all in with no exception

Be well, Stay well, We are all in this together.
